Rave: Revenge of the Sith Trailer

Now being a bit of a Star Wars fan, well that a lie. I am a huge Star Wars fan. So on Thursday i was very excited as the full trailer for Revenge of the Sith was released. Having loved the first trailer that was released at the end of last year i had high hope for this one to be good. Well to tell you the truth i need this last movie to be great, I don't want to lose hope for all things Star Wars. I don't think i can handle 3 movies in 9 years ending on a sucking note, even if these movies haven't had the same effect on me as the first 3.

The new trailer lucky for me is one of the best things i have ever seen in my life. I think i may have got a slight wood by the end of the trailer. The good thing for me about this trailer was unlike the last two, this trailer focused on substance rather then the over used special effects which i think have ruined the previous two films for me. I think i heard that in Attack of the clones there was something like 2000 special effects, like at least 5 in each scene. So i was very glad that really the only big special effect is the battle between two starships which looked very good.

Now go out and get this trailer, you will love this thing it will make you as excited as i am.

Review- Hitch

First off i have to admit something before i start about Hitch. Hi my name is Chris, and i am a romantic comedy addict. Now i realise that this isn't such a big problem in the grand scale of everything but i thought i would tell you before i review Hitch. Although i love a romantic comedy i tend to not enjoy american ones as much as ones from other countries. So about 15 mins into hitch i was glad to see that this wasn't another cookie cutter American romance.

Alex 'Hitch' Hitchens (Will Smith) is a so called dating doctor. He helps the men out there with there women problems. When Hitch is faced with one of his toughest prospects, Albert (Kevin James). Albert is the toughest client Hitch have ever been faced with, he can't dance, he doesn't know what to say and he is clumsy as all hell. While Hitch is trying to help Albert get his girl he falls for a gossip columnist named Sara (Eva Mendes). The only problem is that Hitch can't seem to get his own stuff together to be able to sweep Sara off her feet. The question for the rest of the film is can Albert and Hitch get there girls.

The best thing about this movie is that first time writer Kevin Bisch breaks the romantic comedy mold just enough to bring a little spark to it. His writing sometimes does get a little corny but you can't help that with this type of film. Those low points aren't really that big of a problem because the rest of the movie flows so well. Will Smith and Kevin James are just fantastic and really do steal the show. There slapstick and timing really had me in stiches and i truely can't wait to see this again. Also Eva Mendes was just stunning, just really really beautiful.

I can't recommend this film enough to anyone that is interested in just having a nice afternoon at the movies. I enjoyed this movie as much as any Richard Curtis film ( by the way i love all of them).

Chris Rating - 6.5/10

Review- Bubba Ho-tep

I loved this movie before i even saw it. Now i realise that this can be very bad and usually means that your going to be let down ( shake my fist in the air yelling bad words into the air- "Star Wars episodes 1 &2"). But i don't know how anyone could not get a little excited if they read the synopsis for this film. The one i read was the one from the Birch site which went like this "A bizarre horror comedy in which an aging Elvis Presley and JFK do battle with a recently resurrected Egyptian mummy who is killing off the residents of a rest home!". Now if anyone doesn't find this a little exciteing you should just stop reading this blog cause this kind of stuff is my bread and butter.

Now i think the synopsis above gives you just enough info to make you want to go. But there is some other things that make the deal just a little sweeter. The aging Elvis they speak of is play by the legend horror actor Bruce Campbell, famous for his role as Ash from the Evil Dead series. Campbell's performance may be one of his best. The best thing about it is that you hardly even know its him under the trademark Elvis chin and sideburns. The best thing is that you never doubt that it isn't elvis. The major performer in this film is Ossie Davis, who plays guy who thinks he is JFK. Now i think Ossie tells it better but to let the people who don't know Ossie Davis is black, so you imagine the story is very left field.

The thing i love about this film is it never takes itself to seriously but never gets corney. This film has all the making of a true cult classic. This could well be the film to stand quite nicely next to Evil Dead for Campbell, you can almost guarantee that it will. I will anyone that loves origianl films that break the mold just enough to be special and great to see this film as fast as possible.

Review- Constantine

On Sunday i went to see the movie Constantine. This is another in a long line of movie that have been adapted from a comic book. Now these movies have been a little hit and miss. From the grand heights of Spiderman 2 to the depths of crapness and maybe even further below that was Elektra. Where Constantine fits is i think on the better side of things.

Constantine is based on the comic book Hellblazer. It is about the demon slaying John Constantine(Keanu Reeves). He was given a gift to be able to see the angles from heaven and the deamons from hell. Constantine is about the devils sons plan to cross over from hell onto our plane of existance. John discovers this plan when he is trying to send more deamons back to hell, in doing this he hopes to be excepted into heaven.

I think Constantines strong point for me was that i didn't know much of the back story. Unlike Spiderman or xmen this was all new to me. Keanu Reeves is really one of the coolest people in hollywood. He now seems to know what roles suit him and Constantine is differently one of them. He bring the character to life and plays all the important parts of the movie just perfect.

I hope with my fingers crossed that they find a way to do another one of these films. it had everything. It was pretty, well cast and although the script was a little corney it still didn't let the movie down all that much. This movie is one of the good comic book ones, i just hope that there is a few more this year.
